The Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley is seeking a Gallery Coordinator to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who is creative, loves art, and wants to learn about gallery operations. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience, customer service experience, an understanding of social media and a passion for the arts community.

Hours & Compensation:
This full-time position (40 hours/week) will be at the Grove Gallery at the Harbour Quay, which operates with differing summer hours and winter hours. This position requires one weekend shift and the occasional event attendance. Compensation ranges from $19-$21/hr depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
● Front Desk/Gallery attendance
○ Greet and assist visitors, providing exhibition and gift shop information
○ Take payments & perform daily reconciliations
○ Answer phone calls and manage general inquiries
● Exhibition Management
○ Assist with developing yearly exhibitions
○ Assist with the take-down and hanging of exhibitions
○ Manage artists and artwork drop-off/pickup
○ Manage communications for exhibitions
● Volunteer and Membership Management
○ Manage volunteer lists and membership lists
○ Update website as needed
● Workshop management
○ Take payment and organize workshops in the Grove Gallery workshop space
and boardroom
○ Manage instructors, supply lists, attendance, and provide reports to the Arts
Administrator
● Social Media management
○ Update social media profiles as needed
○ Design social media content using Canva
○ Schedule content on Facebook and Instagram
● Working events from time to time, and represent the Gallery in a professional
manner

Qualifications 

● Administration experience (computer-based administration, paperwork,
understanding policies and filing)
● Customer service experience (answering phones, greeting patrons, taking payments)
● Problem solving and creative thinking
● Working alone and as a part of a team
● Comfortable working with the public

● Comfortable learning new computer programs
● Experience working with Microsoft Office applications, Google Applications, Canva
and Facebook/Instagram

The ideal candidate will have:
● Experience in the arts, non-profit sector or arts-making
● A passion for the arts and community engagement
● An understanding of artwork care and conservation
● Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Please note: Successful candidates will be required to complete a Police Information Check.
