The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is seeking a term (to March 31, 2017) Capital project Advisor to assist First nations and thier Project Consultants with their community-based capital projects.  Based out of Port Alberni, the Capiotal Project Advisor will serve as a resource person,advisor and monitor to support First nation efforts (from project's construction stage through to the completion stage) to be on schedule and within budget.  This position is subject to annual renewal funding. 

  • Assist in the development of Subcontractor packages and Requests for Proposals, as well as Terms of Reference and Scope of work for each project
  • Establing lines of communication with all parties thorughout the life of the capital project, and continually monitor the progress of the projects against the production schedule, costs and budget
  • Condust quality contraol activities, inspections and generating deficiency lists for each project
  • Assist First Nations in developing and implementing on-going public works operationd and maintenance plans
  • Report construction deficiencies and make recommendations to the contractor and First Nation
  • Ensure all required documentation is sernt to INAC from consultants/First Nations in a timely manner
  • Complete follow-up reports on all completed projects, ensuring that all warranties and maintence milestones have been achieved
Qualifications 
  • Diploma in a construction related field or equivalent combination of training/working knowledge and a minimum of two-years' experience in the construction industry
  • Have working knowledge of National and BC Buliding Codes
  • Have working knowledge of construction sites/equipment, and WCB safety measures to ensures compliance with all safety regulations
  • Have excellent negotiation, problem-solving, presentation and communication skills and have the ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • A valid BC driver's licence and vehicle is required and ability to travel to the First Nations is required 
  • Must provide an acceptable criminal record check
