The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is seeking a term (to March 31, 2017) Housing Program Advisor works with Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations to provide on-going advice to assist First Nations and their Project Consultants with their approved Housing Projects.  Based out of Port Alberni, the Housing Project Advisor will serve as a resource person, advisor and monitor to support First Nation efforts (from project's construction stage through to the completion stage) to be on schedule and within budget.  This position is subject to annual renewal funding.

  • Provide assistance to First Nations by establishing lines of communication with all parties throughout the life of the housing project
  • Provide housing program mentoring and capacity development to First Nations housing staff
  • Monitor the progress if the housing project against the production schedule, costs and budget
  • Review/ensure all progress claims and work reports are submitted in a timely fashion to INAC/CMHC
  • Advise on inspection responsibilitites and be avaliable to observe formal inspections, and liaison of these to all parties involved
  • Ensure that all Operations and Maintenance Program is completed for each housing project
  • Complete follow-up reports on all completed projects, ensuring that all warranties and maintenance milestones have been achieved.
Qualifications 
  • Diploma in a construction related field or equivalent combination of training/working knowledge and a minimum of two-years' experience in Project Management of Housing Projects
  • Have a working knowledge of National and BC Buliding Codes
  • Have a working knowledge of construction safety regulations
  • Have excellent negotiation, problem solving, presentation and communication skills, and have the ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • A vaild BC driver's license and vehicle is required, and ability to travel to the First nations is required
  • Must provide an acceptable criminal record check
