Purpose: This position is responsible for overseeing the general operations and day-to-day delivery of programs and services at the Alberni Valley Early Years Centre (EYC).

This position runs from August 22, 2016 to June 30, 2017.

Note: There is some flexibility in the successful candidate’s work schedule, though some evening
and weekend hours will be required.

Duties:
1. Oversee day-to-day operations at the EYC, including building access and use.
2. Maintain EYC calendar and ensure that EJ Dunn staff and external partners are aware of
the building’s scheduled use.
3. Greet families and answer questions about programs and services.
4. Work with 20+ partnering service providers to create a positive, welcoming, and
respectful shared space.
5. Ensure that partners adhere to the guidelines for use as stated in the Partnership
Agreement.
6. Support the development of systemic partnerships to encourage healthy family
development.
7. Liaise with EYC team, including Coordinator, relevant SD#70 staff, and partners.
8. A commitment to the goals of the Alberni Valley Early Years Centre.

Qualifications 

1. Relevant educational Diploma (ie. Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care).
2. Experience collaborating with a variety of service providers.
3. A thorough understanding of the Alberni Valley’s early childhood development systems
and services.
4. An understanding of the EYC’s partner organizations and the services they provide.
5. Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Proven ability to build constructive, cooperative, and accepting relationships with
partners and broader community.
7. Experience working in a team environment including leading teams.
