ACAWS is seeking a Full-time Executive Director to lead our agency. The Executive Director is the key operational position of responsibility for the overall success of the organization through effective and strategic leadership. The Executive Director is responsible for financial management and administration, human resources management, and business development for the agency.

The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the ongoing operations and growth of ACAWS by planning, organizing, leading, and administering all agency activities, programs and operations, and by providing the linkage between the organization, its staff, and the Board of Directors. You will be able to ensure high-quality, ethical, efficient, accountable and effective client-centred services.

The successful candidate must possess:

  • A strong belief in social justice approach to client services
  • A clear understanding of the dynamics of abuse and violence
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with staff and stakeholders, including funders
  • Specific experience with human resource management
  • Experience in financial management including budget preparation, proposal writing and grant application
  • Specific experience with human resource management (Union experience an asset)
Qualifications 
  • Relevant University Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in senior management or an executive position
  • Clear criminal record check
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and insured vehicle

This is a full-time position, with a competitive salary and benefits package. Compensation may be negotiated based on a combination of experience, education, and overall suitability.
