Uu-a-thluk is seeking up to three(3) T'aaq-wiihak Fisheries Monitors for the 2017 salmon demonstration fisheries.  The fishing season is expected to be May through October 2017.  The Fisheries Monitors will be based in Tofino at specific landing sites.  This is a casual employment opportunity which require short notice scheduling, so flexible availability is required.

Uu-a-thluk (NTC Fisheries) will provide on-site training in relevant job skills.

Responsibilities and desirable characteristics include:

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfort around water, fisherman and boats
  • Show up at designated landing sites during landing times
  • Be available (on-call) at certain times during the week to accommodate landing times
  • Record information in T'aaq-wiihak landing books
  • Collect T'aaq-wiihak log book pages and fishing logs and provide tot he T'aaq-wiihak Fisheries Coordinator
  • Communicate with and report to Uu-a-thluk staff or T'aaq-wiihak Coordinator each day after a landing
  • Behave professionally at all times
Qualifications 
  • A driver's license and access to a vehicle are assets for this position
