Custodians perform a variety of custodial duties, often independently and mainly inside a district school or building.
Qualifications include a recognized course (Building Service 1 & 2) in custodial methods and practices that includes knowledge of chemical and cleaning compounds used in commercial cleaning applications and their appropriate use and safety features. Applicants should possess a current WHMIS card, valid BC Driver's License, and have the ability and skills to operate a variety of equipment such as vacuum cleaners, polishers, automatic scrubbers and carpet cleaners.
