The chosen candidate will work closely with the Alberni Chrysler staff to provide accounting support to our Sales, Service and Parts departments.  The bookkeeper is responsible for the company's financial control and policies; it's accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation for financial reports. This position involves general daily accounting, internal auditing, and budgetary controls.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow and complete all month end procedures with accuracy and efficiency
  • Complete monthly reconciliation for all banking accounts, credit cards and cash accounts
  • Reconciling various monthly remittances; (PST/GST), warranty and Tire Stewardship etc.
  • Oversee issuing of cheques and payments of invoices
  • Oversee accounts receivable and payables
  • Oversee internal system of handling and reconciling cash and bank accounts
  • Carryout all payroll and Human Resource functions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
  • Liaise with managers in the dealership and support them in their accounting needs
  • Maintain schedules, oversee cash flow requirements, and provide various reports to General Manager and Owner
  • Assist in maintaining and improving policy and procedure documentation for financial and accounting issues
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory charges and impacts on the organization's procedures and general ledger accounts
  • Maintain an accurate and complete and systematic and accounting information in order to review operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and operating effectiveness of the organization
Qualifications 
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, dealership accounting preferred
  • Excellent current computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Word, MS Outlook and MS Excel
  • General understanding of computerized accounting systems (ADP an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Assertive and comfortable communicating with various types of individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments and key business partners
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines
  • Excellent team player
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts

  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations when necessary
