Hours:   

  • Monday to Saturday shifts.  Applicants must be fully available on Saturdays.
  • Shifts will occur between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm.  Lengths of shifts may differ.

General Job Description:  The Salvation Army is seeking casual staff members to work scheduled or on-call shifts as a Clerk in our Thrift Store and as Sorter in our Donation Depot.  Once hired, new employees will be trained at both locations and employed as needed. 

 

Thrift Store Duties:

  • serves customers during the day-to-day running of the store;
  • implements store layout plans to attract customers including window displays and merchandise displays ensures attractiveness of the store through “tidy maintenance;”
  • replenishes store merchandise levels based on Supervisor’s directions; and
  • takes responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions, including: visa, debit, cash etc.   

 

Donation Depot Duties:

  • processes donated household items by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, and loading donated items;
  • routes donated items to the appropriate destination (i.e. store distribution, recycling, clothing donation or trash);
  • sorts donated clothing by judging the condition of items;
  • hangs and prices good condition clothing prior to sending to the store; and
  • liaises with customers in a positive way.
Qualifications 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • physical dexterity – must be able to lift up to 25 lbs;
  • good judgment;
  • good communication skills with fellow staff members and customers;
  • open to feedback from peers and supervisors; and
  • kind/caring nature.
