Westcoast Hardware Ltd. operates Home Hardware Building Center in the Port Alberni Market, supporting the full range of consumer and contractor home improvement needs.

Westcoast Hardware Ltd is looking for an upbeat, team orientated and customer focused Retail Sales Associate. 

The Retail Associate provides prompt courteous and efficient service to customers, advising them on appropriate merchandise and related items and ticketing and replenishing merchandise; cycle counting, general housekeeping of shelves, loss prevention, merchandising, restocking and staying current with trends in the industry related to his/her product section/area of store. 

Qualifications 
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience preferably in the retail industry
  • Motivated, self-starting individual with a strong work ethic
  • outgoing, personable and honest
  • Strong family values are essential 
  • Great communication skills
  • Fast learner
  • Dedication to first-class customer experience
  • Physically fit- able to stand, walk and assist with 30-50 lb packages
  • Organizational Skills
  • Ability to listen and understand customer's needs
  • Ability to train and motivate other staff as needed 
  • Be able to work well with others and take direction from senior management
  • Must, Must, Must like people!
  • Enjoy working in a team environment

Nice to have:

  • POS System experience
  • Comfort with the use of computers
  • Hardware, plumbing, paint, lumber, building materials, cashier and DIY skills or knowledge
  • Retail background
  • Sales training or education
