Alberni Drug & Alcohol Prevention Service is looking for a dynamic Youth and Family Addictions Counsellor to complement their service delivery team.  The ideal candidate will have experience based in Trauma Informed Practice and will utilize a strong cultural competency working with diverse populations. A demonstrated working knowledge of substance misuse, assessment, treatment strategies and holistic models of recovery are essential. 

Qualifications 

A B.A. in a Health or Human Service field, plus 3 years recent experience working with substance affected populations. 7 years combined training, relevant experience and specific addictions counselling practice will be considered. The successful candidate is comfortable delivering service to individuals and groups. Community development and capacity building experience is considered an asset. 

We are looking for a self-starter who works effectively as part of a team. The ability to be organized, flexible, and an unwavering commitment to ethical practice is paramount.

Use of personal vehicle, a satisfactory driver’s abstract and a police records review will be required.
