Education Assistants provide educational support/personal care to students with special learning needs.
Grade 12 graduation, and a completed Certificate in Human Services or Early Childhood Education (ECE), Post-secondary coursework should include: Psychology, counseling, behavior management techniques, or communication disorders. BC WCB level 1 First Aid, and CPI.
Certain Education assistant positions also require additional coursework in the areas of Autism, seizure Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Approved Intervener training, Augmentative Communication, Board Maker, Visual Schedules, and Life Skills.
ALL EMPLOYEES OF SCHOOL DISTRICT 70 (ALBERNI) ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A CURRENT CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK.
